Gianni Biancofiore (full name Giandomenico Luigi Biancofiore) is an Italian medical doctor and anesthesiologist-intensivist. He serves as Director of the Division of Anesthesia and Intensive Care for Transplants at the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria Pisana (AOUP) in Pisa and is a Professor in Anesthesiology at the University of Pisa. Prof Biancofiore graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at the University of Pisa. Over decades, he has directed and developed clinical anesthesia/CCM divisions, particularly for liver and other solid organ transplants, and has contributed to clinical research in the field with over 220 publications. He served as member of different ILTS committees and as President of LICAGE. His Unit has played an important role in advanced transplant care and intensive therapy in Italy with a particular focus on hemodynamics, AKI, and ERAS. Prof. Biancofiore has also been involved in initiatives to improve intensive care practices and family-inclusive care models, and his work has been referenced in reports on innovative intensive therapy programs.
